Vincent, I need to speak with you. When you have a moment.

It seems the curses are coming more slowly, this month. Not a complaint, by any means, just an observation. Still, it makes you wonder what's in store for tomorrow.

[He settled back against the couch, snugging his arms tightly around her and smiling into her hair.]

[she let herself bask in his presence for a moment, silent but happy. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence and that was what made it even better. A long few moments later and both cats joined them, Smudge in Anita's lap and Mercy climbing both of them like a tree to perch in Anita's hair, a purring face close to Reeve's]

[He laughed quietly, tangling his hands in the ends of her hair.]

We should start planning for the wedding.

[Anita grunted as Mercy saw the motion in her hair as an invitation to play with some strands, but she didn't move to stop him. Instead, her hands started stoking Smudge, making the big cat purr]

... I've never done that kind of stuff before. I never thought I'd ever be able to marry someone.

[Expertly, Reeve deflected the silly kitten.]

Neither did I, honestly.

[He rested his chin on her shoulder, purring happily as he inhaled her scent.] We should chose a date, at least.

[Her head tilted enough to let her cheek rest against his]

We should. So... how soon do we want to do this?

"August, maybe? Before it starts getting nasty?"

He knows they have to give everyone some notice, and really, he doesn't feel the need to rush this. Their current blissful state is too nice to wait.

Her head starts pondering at the mention of the month, figuring time and such.

"During the summer. Well, it's good to let people know so they have some time, but what happens if... people leave?"

It's a constant worry now.

He hears what she's really asking. What if one of them leaves? He tightens his arms around her hips, pulling her closer.

"Sooner?"

That makes a dozing Smudge 'mrrr' softly, as if warning Reeve that he has to share Anita at the current moment.

"We can do it in August."

He gave Smudge a Look, nuzzling against Anita's cheek.

"Love, if you want to do it sooner, believe me, I have no objections."

Smudge gave it right back and nuzzled deeper into Anita's lap, her tail flicking.

"You two behave."

"I'm behaving."

He reached out, tugging gently on that flicking tail. Behaving, sure.

"Forget what you know or what you planned on, sweetheart. What do you want?"

And Anita's hand reached out to swat his hand.

"I'd marry you tomorrow, but time is a good thing, too. I'd... like to let friends know and I'd love to have them there with us to celebrate. Hell Reeve, I just... want to be with you."

He caught the hand, lacing their fingers together.

"You have me, love. Even if we never get married, I'm not leaving you."

Anita stared down at their joined hands for several long moments.

"So when in August?"

"Early." He smiled, kissing her cheek. "We probably need two dates, in case the first is a curse day."

"Good idea. I'm not getting married again during a curse."

He nodded, tightening his arms around her.

"I'm so glad you chose me, sweetheart."

She hummed and let her eyes close, secure in his arms.

"... why'd you pick me?"

He stroked through her hair, gently gathering the strands and combing through them.

"Because, Anita, you're a beautiful, smart, wonderful woman. I can't imagine being without you, now."

"I meant at the beginning. After the mistletoe."

His touch was so relaxing.

The mistletoe. That's harder to explain.

He rested his chin on her shoulder again, his hands stroking her back and shoulders to relax the muscles.

"I think I had feelings for you long before the mistletoe. I kept my distance because I assumed we couldn't be together."

"Would you have come forward if I hadn't said kissing me during the curse was alright?"

She's just talking now; saying what's popped into her head before she can really think about it. It's another sign of just how much she trusts him.

"I don't know." He smiled a little, taking the opportunity just to watch her. Relaxed Anita might be his new favorite. Right after Sleepy Anita and Lustful Anita, and -- okay, he's not going to be choosing tonight. But still.

"After the mistletoe curse, I kept thinking about you. It was fairly unbearable, actually. But I don't know if I'd ever have acted without you encouraging me.
