The first of a new month. I believe tomorrow is an Earth holiday of some sort, involving hedgehogs? The references I found were less than clear. I'm assuming, however, that the concept of the rodent's precognitive abilities were strictly metaphorical.

When do you think you'll be ready to go?

Does anyone else wonder about the curses... Where they're chosen from, why they're chosen -- what particular significance does each curse have to each member of the city? Do they strike more closely for certain members of the population, or a certain percentage? If the former, are individuals being targeted? Randomly, systematically? How does that reflect in curses like the recent pastry curse? If the latter, why are people left unaffected? Are the curses chosen to effect the largest percentage of the population? If so, why are they so varied? Or is it all random, as the pastry curse would suggest?

Unfortunately, it seems like the final answer is most likely. It would be comforting to discern some sort of pattern from them.
