[visual of Reeve holding up a writhing green baby!Cthulu by the scruff of its neck. Cue flailing tentacles.]

I have the feeling I'm missing another cultural reference, here. Would someone please explain to me to me the significance of these creatures and why they're in my house, frightening my cats?

Reeve, don't treat them like that! They're really sweet!

And only Confucius is afraid! Kuro's playing with them!

Yuffie, one bit me.

....Playing with -- Yuffie, where are you?

They look sort of like malformed tadpoles which for some reason have two tails instead of one… Perhaps these are escaped specimens from whatever laboratory exists in this place?

...perhaps it is only that. They're vicious, however.

I'd hoped you'd managed to find your way out of the city. I'm terribly sorry, not that it isn't lovely to hear from you.

One can only hope the proper owner of these things will be retrieving them soon… I’ve already encountered one and seemed to have it contained for the moment in a metal box.

[Private]
I’m sorry… So far there are two who seem to know me- one of whom provided a guide-, but I still lack memory of this place and those in it or how it would be possible for such a thing to take place.

Do they have owners? I think they came from the drain... Although if Yuffie has her way we'll be keeping them. I knew I should have let her have cats.

[Private]
Ahhh. Perhaps your memories will return in time... you've been gone from the city for about two weeks, although I understand that means nothing. The passage of time is very different between the City and the outside worlds. Many things you'd think were impossible are, apparently, not.

Somehow, though, I can't be shocked you forgot again.

...If it helps, when you left, you gave me your notes and theories on the city. Perhaps you'd like them back? They may trigger some memories.

Maybe.

I did not see exactly where that one came from, but for what it’s worth, they seem to be trainable. I do feel badly for having struck it with a fully extended riot baton when it tried to escape, though. It doesn’t seem injured, but looking back on it, that was not the most humane option since it was steel.

[Private]
Until whatever point in time that may be, it is going to be a bit discomforting to be here.

Strange, very strange…

My notes? I don’t leave those things which just anyone, so if the other me that you are familiar with left them with you, it is probably because you might have a use for them. I would like to look at the notes, if you don’t mind, but I think you should continue to keep them.

[OOC: Strikes visible.]

Yuffie's smacking them with newspapers. And everyone's getting bitten; I don't think your reaction was extreme.

[Private]
You're welcome to look them over. Perhaps I can take you out for coffee sometime and you'll have the chance? Maybe going out in the City will spark something.

It’s a bit strange for so many of an aggressive species to enter a developed area. Most prey species flee from humans or keep hours where as few as possible would be encountered, and most predators follow their prey; I doubt something as violent as these appear to be would be a scavenger…

Just out of curiosity, are these a regular species here or is there a chance they might just be one of the “curses” that the guide mentioned? That’s two other things they may be.

[Private]
I appreciate it. It seems I am trapped here indefinitely and should count myself as currently unemployed, so let me know if there is any time that would fit well with your schedule.

By the way, is there anything I can do to repay you, mister…? I am pretty handy with electronics. Also, -though I doubt I could provide more detail about things in the notes specific to the city- I could probably clarify any shorthand, references to things from my world, and anything that I had mentioned in the past as having a way to do that involves whatever project you where given the research for.

Judging by their sudden appearance at midnight, I'd say they're a curse. I pray to the power of the Ancients that they aren't actually a permanent addition.

[Private]

I'm free most evenings, so let me know.

Frankly, I would appreciate it if you would involve yourself with the project again -- we were attempting to discern the inner workings of the Clock at the center of the city, to see if it could be used to find a way home. Since you're back -- or someone like you is -- I assume whatever way you found was ineffective.

…the “Ancients”?

[Private]
Perhaps tomorrow would be good; I think I’ll work on getting my bearings and finding a place to stay. Someone who is very fond of those green things and is also the one who gave me a guide is already coming to see me, and presumably lead me to their place so they can take the creature off my hands before it drives me completely mad, anyway…

So there is a giant clock here… That explains it.

I am fairly certain that I am myself and that I’m not famous or wealthy enough for someone to gain anything from impersonating me. Hm… I think I’ll need time to take the situation in before starting to feel too strongly one way or the other.

That should be alright. What sort of things in particular are needed?

[OOC: Strikes visible, if Reeve wants to comment on that. Yes, it’s Yuffie who gave the guide. XD]

A reference to my world, apologies.

The ticking? It goes away when you are in the company of others. Wait, Yuffie? Yuffie Kisaragi? No, that's my room mate, don't give it to her, she has five already. I'm begging, Amanda.

It's... complex. Why don't I send you the plans and you can look them over before tomorrow?

Date: 2008-04-11 11:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] electronicly.livejournal.com
It’s fine.

[Private]
Yes, ticking. Perhaps I should find company or invest in a pet, then; it seems like otherwise it would make it difficult to concentrate until I am accustomed to it.

I didn’t ask her name yet, but Kisaragi was part of her journal handle and it is an unusal enough series of letters that it’s likely we’re talking about the same person. Five is a bit excessive and six is more so… Maybe it could escape? But then I would be back at the beginning for determining where I am since I probably wouldn’t be lead back without it. It seems thoughtless, actually, to accept someone’s offer to lead me to somewhere in the city proper that I don’t know, now that I think about it…

That would be good.

Slow mun is slow. -.-;;;;;;;;; [Private]

Yuffie won't mislead you. She knew you before, too. I just don't want that thing in my house. Five is five too many.

[Attached is the file containing her diagnostics of the clock and his plans for Cait Sith]

You're not that slow. ^_^; [Private//Voice]

It was phrased unclearly? The ticking would probably distract me if I attempted to do anything productive before getting used to it, so I was mentioning that I probably should do something to quiet the ticking.

Ah, I see.

*sound of a wooden box being eaten- including the nails- by a baby!Cthulu* I can completely understand why you would feel that way.

Interesting. I’ll look this over and see if anything in particular comes to mind, thank you.

No trouble. I hope it helps.

It’s alright…

I doubt many in the city will have the patience to put up with an infestation like this for longer than twenty-four hours, if that.

I'm guessing this is what happens when a nightmare gets drunk on New Years and sleeps with Cthulu.

Cthulu is...well, he's fiction in my world, but apparently not in the Corinthian's. He's the god of...well, I don't know, but something bad, and he's got tentacles and makes people go crazy.

From what I've gathered... they're somehow related to an ancient god of destruction from an Earth-universe work of fiction. They may or may not be harbingers of doom, insanity and decimation. My roommate likes to keep them as pets.
