She was rapidly waking up more with each moment he touched her, lips parting under his gentle guidance as her hands settled on his hips. She tugged a little in silent invitation, wanting him as close as possible.

He pressed in against her, tightening his arms around her hips to pull her closer.

He wanted her badly, but it was getting lost as he relished just having her in his arms, lying with him. He nuzzled in, trailing kisses over her cheeks and throat.

She tipped her head a little, shifting against him with a soft murmur. As much as she wanted him, she was content to be pressed close to him. The day before, she wasn't sure she'd ever be able to be like this with him again.

He leaned up, kissing her again. His hands continued their exploration of her body, pushing the hem of her shirt up so he could trace over her stomach with his finger tips.

She was beautiful. He could never forget it, but it washed over him more every time he saw her. "I love you."

Again, she wriggled, laughing breathlessly as she took a playful swat at the offending hand. Nose crinkled with laughter, she looked up at him, letting the smile soften.

He returned the smile -- how could he not? -- and stroked his hands up, gliding them over her skin.

"So am I, beloved." He leaned in, kissing her again, gently.

Letting her eyes close, she sank into the kiss with a soft sigh, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"... I didn't think you were coming back."

He kissed her again, harder this time, as if he could prove that he was really there.

"I thought you didn't want me, love, that's the only reason I left. I could never live without you."

"Of course I wanted you. I just needed some time to think. I... didn't even really think about leaving until I heard you hit something in the shower. I just... couldn't be here after that."

Her arms tightened a little as she talked and as her words died away, she leaned up and buried her face in his neck.

"I punched the wall," he admitted. He pulled her in, stroking he hair and murmuring soothing noises into her ear.

"Shh, love. We're here now, and I'm not letting go."

"Damn right you're not. I'm too fond of you already."

Her voice was trying to be light, but the words rang honest.

"... I love you so much, Reeve."

"I know, love, I know." He pushed her hair back and kissed her gently, his arms tightening to hold her close.

She let all the worry and grief and regret over the last few days go as she nuzzled against his neck, sighing softly.

He purred, relaxed but keeping her tight in his embrace. After coming so close to losing her, there was no way he was letting go.

She wriggled up a bit, leaning in to kiss him only to jerk a bit away from him, blinking as she heard a very put upon meow from under the covers.

Laughing, Reeve fished Mercy from the mess they'd made of the blankets. He set the kitten at the foot of the bed. "Why are they only my kids when they're causing trouble?"

Not waiting for an answer, he drew her in for the aborted kiss, pressing their lips together firmly.

She opened her mouth to answer only to find her lips very much occupied. She didn't mind. No, in fact, her hands curled into the back of his pajamas as she leaned closer.

Reeve moaned softly, his own hands stroking down over her hips.

Cats be damned. Mercy's gruff stare was forgotten with the glide of his hands along her hips. She moved with the touch, hands settling low on his back.

Reeve purred softly, settling their bodies flush together as he continued the kiss. His hands roamed over her back, slowly working under her shirt.

"God, Anita..."

Her skin shivered under his fingers and she arched a little, moaning under her breath.

He smiled at the reaction, bringing his hands up over her shoulders and stroking along her arms as he leaned in for another slow kiss. Carefully, he settled her back against the bed pressed down to her, making sure to brush her hair out of the way where it wouldn't get caught.

Snuggling back into the bedding, she smirked up at him as soon as he broke the kiss. "Seems like you're planning something, love."

The most innocent look he can muster settles on his face. "Are you accusing me of plotting?"

He settled between her legs, pressing close and leaning in for another deep kiss to wipe the smirk off her face.

"It's the quieter ones you have to watch out for."

Her legs parted to give him all the room he could want, pulling him in eve closer with her hands as she murmured happily into the kiss.
